When a member of staff leaves

Tell us the person's last working day as soon as you know it. What we do - Block their sign-in at the end of their last day - Keep their mailbox and files, so nothing is lost - Forward their email to a colleague if you want - Give a colleague access to their mailbox or OneDrive if needed - Collect or reset their computer and phone Why it matters An account that stays open after someone leaves is one of the most common ways businesses are broken into. Closing it on the day is the safest option. Licences Once their mail and files are dealt with, we remove the licence so you stop paying for it.

Restarts and Windows updates

Many problems clear with a proper restart, and security updates only finish when the computer restarts. Restart, do not just shut down Choose Start, then the power button, then Restart. On most computers "Shut down" does not fully clear the system, so a restart is better when something is misbehaving. Once a week Restart your computer at least once a week, ideally at the end of the day so updates can finish. When updates are waiting If you see "Update and restart", save your work and choose it. Do not turn the computer off while it says updates are being installed, even if it seems slow. Still slow after a restart? Message us. We can see whether updates are stuck or something else is wrong.

Printer not printing

Check the basics 1. Is the printer switched on, with paper and no warning lights? 2. Is the right printer selected? In the print window, check the printer name before clicking Print. 3. Turn the printer off, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on. 4. Restart your computer. Wireless printers If the printer has lost its wifi connection, its screen usually shows it. Restarting the printer normally reconnects it. Still stuck? Message us with the printer name and a photo of any message on its screen or yours.
