Passwords and security | hostme.ie Help

Receiving a password from us securely

We never send a password in a normal email or text. Instead you get a link to secrets.hostme.ie. How it works 1. Open the link. You see the password once. 2. Copy it straight into where it is needed, or into your password manager. 3. The link then stops working. If you open it a second time it will say the secret has already been viewed. If the link says it was already viewed If you did not open it yourself, tell us straight away. Someone else may have seen it, and we will change the password. Sending a password to us Please do not send passwords by email or WhatsApp. 1. Go to secrets.hostme.ie. 2. Paste the password into the box and create the link. 3. Send us the link by WhatsApp or email. The password itself never sits in your messages.

How to spot a phishing email

Phishing emails pretend to be someone you trust so you will click a link, open a file, or pay money. Warning signs - It pushes you to act fast: an unpaid invoice, a locked account, a parcel on hold. - The sender address does not match the company it claims to be from. - A link shows a different web address when you hover over it. - A supplier asks you to pay to new bank details. - It asks you to sign in to view a document you were not expecting. What to do - Do not click, reply or forward it on to colleagues. - If it claims to be a supplier or client, phone them on a number you already have, not one in the email. - Send us a screenshot or forward it to support@hostme.ie and we will check it. If you already clicked or entered a password Tell us straight away. The sooner we change the password and check the account, the less damage is done. You will not be in trouble for it.
